Sasaram: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped in a village in Rohtas district on Friday evening. Acting on specific intelligence, the police arrested two suspects, both harvester operators from Uttarakhand.The incident came to light late when the local police received information about the alleged assault. A police team was immediately dispatched to the village.Sasaram SDPO Sasaram Dilip Kumar said prompt action was taken based on inputs from locals. “After receiving the report, the police moved to secure the area and identify the suspects. The girl and the accused have undergone mandatory medical examinations at Sasaram Sadar Hospital. Further legal action will be determined by the findings of the forensic and medical reports.”The suspects were tracked down and detained shortly after the incident, the police said. Preliminary findings suggest that the two men had travelled from Uttarakhand to Rohtas for seasonal agricultural work as harvester operators.According to initial accounts, the minor was intercepted within the village on Friday evening.
She was allegedly taken to a secluded area on the outskirts of the village, where the assault took place.The incident has triggered widespread outrage in the village. Locals gathered to demand a fast-track trial and the maximum possible punishment for those responsible. Police presence has been intensified in the area to prevent any disturbance to law and order.“Medical and forensic evidence is being prioritised to build a strong case against the accused,” police said.
