From Carlos Sainz’s comb to Fernando Alonso’s walking stick: What F1 drivers got from Secret Santa this Christmas

F1 drivers celebrated Christmas with their families and partners after the season finale earlier this month. Before heading into the holidays, however, they took part in a Secret Santa exchange among themselves, and some drivers didn’t miss the chance to poke fun at their colleagues with naughty gift choices. While Carlos Sainz received combs and hairbands from Isack Hadjar, Fernando Alonso was gifted a walking stick by Nico Hulkenberg. Here’s a look at all the weird and amusing gifts F1 drivers received from Secret Santa this Christmas. Fernando Alonso gifted Alex Albon a Spanish cookbook. Albon didn’t seem impressed at first but eventually warmed to it after flipping through the food pictures. Meanwhile, Alonso himself received a walking stick from Nico Hulkenberg, a nod to the fact that he is the oldest driver on the grid. Alonso joked that he would use it to hit Hulkenberg if he ran into him in Monaco.Lando Norris, on the other hand, received two posters featuring Alex Albon, one from his younger days and another more recent one. The reigning F1 world champion revealed that he actually had a poster of Albon on his bedroom wall for over a decade, and the new ones could now replace it. Norris also received a book about Thailand from Albon, which helped him figure out who his Secret Santa was.Charles Leclerc gifted George Russell a photo capturing the moment he made contact with the Mercedes driver while overtaking him during a race. Russell didn’t enjoy the gift at all and joked that he should return the favour by giving Leclerc a picture of the moment Kimi Antonelli pushed him out of the race a few laps later. Russell sarcastically thanked Leclerc for “nothing” and even refused to wish him a Merry Christmas.Isack Hadjar got an alarm clock from his Racing Bulls teammate Liam Lawson, who felt he was often late and needed help being on time. Lawson, in turn, received a tripod and a book titled ‘Make a TikTok Every Day’ from Ollie Bearman. Charles Leclerc, meanwhile, received a Santa hat and a French book on how to be a husband from Pierre Gasly. Gasly added that the Ferrari driver should return the book to him once he was done reading it.Pierre Gasly received a set of sports accessories from Kimi Antonelli, as the two had played padel together during the year. The gift included padel socks, a cap, a card, and a few other items.
