Garden dept files plaint against 2 for felling of trees
Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) garden dept has filed a complaint against two persons for having chopped off the trees in their plot without seeking the permission of the NMC.The complainant has claimed that the they had not taken permisison from the NMC mandatory under Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Preservation of Trees Act, 1975 and that they had got forged documents showing the sanction from NMC for the act.According to Gangapur police where the complaint has been registered, "The people had chopped off the trees on the private plot near at Savarkarnagar, Gangapur Road between Aug 2025 and Dec 2025. Since no permission was taken for the same, the NMC officials have registered the complaint."The officer also said that the complainant has claimed that when they got in touch with the plot owner he showed the order from NMC allowing the chopping off of the trees and the receipt of Rs 10,000 the charges paid to the NMC."The NMC officials have claimed that both the order and the receipt were forged and hence the complaint under relevant sections of cheating, forgery and the cutting of trees illegally under the Trees Act has been registered," the police added.
