Paint shop gutted in Vadakkencherry

Palakkad: A paint shop was gutted after a fire broke out near Mudappallur Junction at Vadakkencherry on Thursday evening.The incident took place around 3.30pm at Ayyappa Paints. Fire and rescue services units from Alathur and Vadakkencherry rushed to the spot after the fire spread rapidly through the shop.Fire officials, with help from locals, brought the blaze under control after hours of effort. Officials said paint and other inflammable materials stored inside the shop intensified the fire.A short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire, said fire officials. The exact extent of the loss is being assessed, said the shop owner.
