Ex-GP member murdered over money dispute in Davanagere

Davanagere: A former gram panchayat member was murdered by a relative over financial dealings in Nalluru village in Channagiri taluk late Friday night, police said. The victim was identified as Attaulla, 38. Initial reports suggest he was killed by his own relative.Police identified the accused as Sheikh Jubiwulla and Sheikh Dastagir of Bhadravathi. Attaulla was standing near a bike in front of a village bakery when the duo approached him from behind and attacked him with a machete. He died on the spot from the injuries.After the incident, the accused went to the Channagiri police station and surrendered. A case has been registered at the Channagiri police station. The victim’s family was devastated on seeing Attaulla lying in a pool of blood. The body has been sent to a government hospital and, after postmortem, will be handed over to the family, police said.Channagiri CPI Ravish said the incident occurred late at night in Nalluru village. “Attaulla was murdered following financial dealings. Sheikh Jubiwulla and Sheikh Dastagir have surrendered at the station, admitting to the crime. They have been arrested and further investigation is under way,” he added.
