Panaji: Tribal welfare group Mission Political Reservation for Scheduled Tribes of Goa has temporarily called off the peaceful protest for 10 days following assurance from tribal welfare minister Ramesh Tawadkar.
“Tawadkar informed us that he has discussed the issue with chief minister Pramod Sawant and he is scheduled to visit Delhi on May 23 and 24. He said he is actively following up on the matter and the delegation will be called to Delhi once the appointment with the concerned central officials is confirmed,” said spokesperson for the group, Govind Shirodkar.
He said, following the assurance, the tribal group will continue to pursue necessary meetings and dialogue over the next 10 days with state and central govt to ensure notification, specifying date for implementation of political reservation for scheduled tribes in Goa, to be issued at the earliest.
