Hoping Borkar stays, says Parab, as MLA skips meet
Panaji: St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar skipped the summons issued by Revolutionary Goans Party core executive committee (CEC), prompting RG president Manoj Parab to urge Borkar to take the notice seriously.Parab said the party CEC is keen to meet Borkar to discuss his grievances and find a solution.“He is our MLA. Our prayer is that he should continue with us and we are ready to find a solution to accomodate him. Presently, he is out of Goa and I am confident that he will come and meet us once he returns,” said Parab, and added that 70% to 80% of the CEC is with him.Parab hinted that Borkar has demanded to see the minutes of the CEC meetings along with reports and accounts of the donations that the MLA has made to the party.Meanwhile, Borkar put up a statement on social media platforms saying he is “ready to suffer for the people”, but did not specify whether the message was against govt or his own party.“Even suspension could not silence me because silence towards injustice is the greatest betrayal. RG was born not for one man, but for every Goan who truly loves this land,” said Borkar. He has been served a notice for conducting anti-party activities and has been summoned to appear before the CEC to explain his actions.
Borkar replied to the notice on Monday afternoon via email saying he is travelling and unable to make it for the meeting.Parab said that the party was confused by Borkar’s email. “His English has improved so much that it was difficult for the party to understand it. We had to use AI tools to simplify it,” said Parab in a jibe at Borkar. When asked if Borkar will contest the 2027 elections on an RG ticket, Parab said nobody could speak with certainty.“We nurtured him. I have called him our MLA so many times but I don’t know if he has referred to me as his president so often. What is in his mind only he can know,” said Parab.
