Panaji: A special court directed charges be framed under the NDPS Act against Sukdev Koli and Ravindar Bhil of Maharashtra after they were allegedly found in possession of 29.6kg ganja.
According to the prosecution, they two men were caught with the drugs near the Duler petrol pump in Mapusa in June last year by crime branch officials.
Advocate B Waghmare argued that the chemical analysis report has not been received yet to prima facie show that the substance was ganja. He also said the second accused, Bhil, was not in conscious possession of the substance as he is the driver of the car and the vehicle is under the name of Koli.
Public prosecutor N Kalangutkar stated that both accused were found in the car when the contraband was seized , and field tests were found positive for ganja.
The court observed that the quantity of the contraband found in the car is commercial and, therefore, a prima facie case is made out against both accused under the NDPS Act.
