New system launched to verify pensioners
Prayagraj: To ease the verification system of elderly citizens in order to avail their pension, the state govt has launched a system for the automatic identification through the ‘Family ID’ initiative.Senior citizens who suffer from various age-related ailments will no longer have to be physically present in govt offices for verification, and the entire system for their verification has been centralised.Under this system, a call center facility has been introduced for pension applications and verification, through which applications are being processed via Common Service Centers after obtaining consent from the elderly over the phone.Ram Shankar Patel, District Social Welfare Officer (Prayagraj) recently said that in Prayagraj district, over 1.67 lakh elderly residents including 72,000 women are currently benefiting from ‘The Old Age Pension Scheme’.He added that these 72,000 elderly women have received a total sum of Rs 86.40 crore for the financial year 2025-26. “A total amount of Rs 196.80 crore has been disbursed to them within the district,” he added.
