Gudiyattam Assembly constituency, reserved for Scheduled Castes, is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests among parties such as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Communist Party of India (CPI).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s V. Amulu won the seat by securing 1,00,412 votes. She defeated AIADMK’s G. Paridha, who secured 93,511 votes. The margin of victory stood at 6,901 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Gudiyattam had a total of 2,63,119 electors, of which 1,94,988 valid votes were polled. AIADMK’s C. Jayanthi Padmanabhan won the seat with 94,689 votes, defeating DMK’s K. Rajamarthandan, who secured 83,219 votes. The margin of victory was 11,470 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,10,194 electors and recorded 1,61,833 valid votes. Communist Party of India’s K. Lingamuthu won the seat with 79,416 votes, defeating DMK’s K. Rajamarthandan, who secured 73,574 votes. The margin of victory stood at 5,842 votes.
