Safety check of school buses at Attingal on Saturday

T'puram: Annual safety inspection of school buses for 2026-27 academic year and an awareness class for vehicle staff will be held at Govt Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Attingal, at 9am on Saturday, said officials of Attingal RTO.The programme is being organized ahead of the reopening of schools in Kerala to ensure safety and fitness of vehicles. Officials said school buses, vans and other authorized vehicles will undergo detailed inspections, including checks on emergency exits, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, speed governors, CCTV cameras and GPS systems. Drivers and attendants will also be given awareness training on road safety and emergency response measures. MVD intensified safety checks in recent years following several school transport accidents and made compliance with safety norms mandatory for educational institutions. tnn
