Ranchi: Deputy commissioner (DC) Manjunath Bhajantri and SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha took a tour of the Durga Puja pandals in the city on Wednesday. During their visit, the officials interacted with the members of the organising committees to know their concerns and give appropriate directions in the interest of safety conduct of the upcoming festivities. While interacting with puja committees, Bhajantri stressed on adherence to safety standards.
“Instruction for strict compliance with safety standards at the pandals were issued to them. This apart, we have asked them to also ensure proper fire safety measures in place, separate entry and exit gates at each pandal for proper management of crowds, alternative electricity arrangements with generators for uninterrupted power supply among others,” he said. Special attention was also directed towards the safety inspection of electrical wires and equipment.
“Puja committees were also asked to maintain continuous coordination with the district administration and stay in contact for quick assistance in any emergency," the DC said. Special measures will also be in place for smooth traffic management around the pandals during the puja, SSP Sinha said. “We are working on crowd management, security arrangements and traffic management plans for the puja," Sinha added.
