Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League has signed Josh Brownhill. The agreement was finalized on 11 September. The 29-year-old midfielder departed Burnley following five years at Turf Moor. Last year, he was captain and netted 18 goals in the Championship. His goals helped Burnley gain promotion back to the

Josh Brownhill joins Al-Shabab after Premier League interest
Josh Brownhill joined Burnley in January 2020 from Bristol City. He became a key player and later captain. Burnley confirmed his exit in June 2025 when his contract ended. Many clubs in England made offers during the summer. Wolves, Brentford, and Leicester City all tried to sign him.
In the end, Brownhill accepted a two-year contract with Al-Shabab. The club is based in Riyadh. The team is managed by Imanol Alguacil, the former Real Sociedad boss. Brownhill will now play with Yannick Carrasco and Wesley Hoedt, who are also part of the squad.
Al-Shabab lost their opening league game to Al-Khaleej by 4-1 in August 2025. The club hopes Brownhill will bring goals and leadership to the midfield.
