TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee has spoken out on the Vice Presidential election, addressing claims of vote manipulation. He confirmed that all TMC MPs were present and voted for their candidate, B. Sudershan Reddy, but noted that as it was a secret ballot, verifying cross-voting or discarded opposition votes is challenging. Banerjee cited sources claiming that Rs 15–20 crore was allegedly spent per person to influence votes. While acknowledging the possibility of representatives being swayed by money, he stressed that the public’s voice and mandate cannot be bought. His comments underline concerns about transparency and fairness in India’s electoral process and the integrity of parliamentary votes.
