Inter IIT cultural meet highlights music, theatre strategy and creativity
Kanpur: Day four of the Inter IIT Cultural Meet 8.0 at IIT Kanpur brought together one of the most varied competitive line-ups of the meet, blending music, theatre, strategy, design and spoken word. Participants competed in classical vocal performances, stagecraft, quizzing, wordplay and digital creativity to showcase diverse forms of expression and intellect.In the Music Arts Cup, classical vocal solo performances in both Hindustani and Carnatic traditions were judged by Dr Ganesh Shankar. The Theatre Arts Cup featured stage play and mime, evaluated by Shekhar Kanwat, Shiv Prateek, V Anantharaman and Avijit Some. Speaking Arts events continued to energise audiences with just-a-minute (JAM) and Hindi Slam Poetry, judged by Arjitha Parthasarathy and Sandeep Dwivedi.

The Quiz Arts Cup tested strategy and speed through the General Quiz and Sports Quiz, conducted by Major Chandrakant Nair, alongside intense wordplay in Scrabble, judged by Harvinderjit Singh Bhatia and Gurmeet Kaur Bhatia. Creative problem-solving took a digital route with the Photoshop Battle, evaluated by Kirti Vardhan Rathore.
The day culminated in an informal night at the Events Ground, where a live performance by Kunj Sings brought participants together for a relaxed and musical close to another vibrant day.Earlier, on Thursday, on day three, the Inter IIT Cultural Meet 8.0 unfolded as a dynamic blend of storytelling, spontaneity and sound. The focus shifted to narrative-led and live formats, with theatre, film, quizzing, fine arts and speaking events taking centre stage across venues on campus.
