Teen killed, another critical after speeding vehicle hits scooter near Indore Metro site

Indore: An 18-year-old girl was killed and another critically injured after a speeding pickup vehicle hit their scooter on Aerodrome road. The accident occurred on Sunday near a diversion created for ongoing Metro construction work beyond Hikagiri. It came to fore after a CCTV footage of the crash surfaced on Wednesday.

Police said the deceased was identified as Priya, a resident of Jambudi Hapsi. She was a Class 12 student at a private school. The accident took place around 6:30pm when Priya and her friend were returning from Pitra Parvat on a scooter.

The CCTV footage revealed that a fast-approaching pickup vehicle struck the scooter when Priya attempted to turn the vehicle. The collision was so severe that the pickup dragged both the students and the scooter for a considerable distance.

Both the girls were thrown several feet into the air before falling unconscious onto the road. Locals rushed to the scene to assist, but Priya succumbed to her injuries on the spot. Her friend was hospitalized in serious condition.

Aerodrome police have seized the pickup vehicle involved in the accident.
