MPPSC result: 1,220 medical officers selected
Indore: Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) on Friday announced the selection list for Medical Officer recruitment 2024, marking the largest single recruitment result ever declared by the commission in a single selection process.
The commission released results for 1,649 posts, which constitute 87 percent of the total advertised vacancies, in accordance with the state government’s reservation-related provisions linked to OBC quota matter pending before courts.
The recruitment process was conducted under advertisement number 09/2024 issued on August 8, 2024, for a total of 1,832 Medical Officer posts under Public Health and Medical Education Department.
The remaining 13 per cent posts, amounting to 183 vacancies, were kept in the provisional category due to the ongoing legal position regarding reservation provisions. However, the commission stated that no separate provisional selection list was required in this recruitment as no eligible candidates fell under that category.
Interviews for shortlisted candidates were conducted continuously from Jan 27 to April 10 this year. Out of the 1,649 posts included in the main selection list, results were declared for 1,220 candidates, while 357 posts remained vacant due to lack of eligible applicants and 72 results were withheld because of pending court cases.
The selected candidates include 225 from Scheduled Caste category, 642 from Scheduled Tribe, 197 from Other Backward Classes, 201 from Economically Weaker Section, and 384 from the unreserved category.
For these vacancies, 3,925 candidates had been invited for interviews. MPPSC PRO, R Panchbhai said that such a large-scale recruitment exercise had never been undertaken simultaneously in the commission’s history.
A significant number of vacancies remained unfilled in Scheduled Tribe and EWS categories because adequate eligible candidates were unavailable. The commission also said that several disability quota posts could not be filled due to non-availability of suitable applicants. Under government rules, 46 unreserved posts were also kept vacant against these unfilled disability quota positions.
Officials said this was the biggest recruitment result announced together in MPPSC history. Earlier, large recruitments, including Assistant Professor examinations of 2022 and 2024 for 1669 and 1918 posts respectively, were conducted and declared in multiple phases rather than through a single consolidated result.
