Indoreans set to feel the heat again as temp likely to rise by 5 degrees
Indore: After a brief spell of relief from intense summer heat, Indore is likely to witness a sharp rise in temperature over the next few days.
Met department has forecast a gradual increase of three to five degrees in day temperature during the coming four days, with hot and dry weather conditions expected to prevail across the region.
On Wednesday, the city recorded a gradual rise in maximum temperature at 38.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 22.6 degrees Celsius. At 8:30 am, the temperature was already recorded at 31 degrees Celsius, indicating an early rise in heat level during the day.
The maximum temperature on Tuesday had dropped close to 37 degrees Celsius for the first time in May due to the influence of active weather systems over western Madhya Pradesh. The day temperature had remained around 37.6 degrees Celsius, nearly three degrees below normal and lower than the previous day. The officials said this relief phase has now ended and the temperature will begin rising steadily from Thursday onward.
The Met officials stated that weather will clear gradually, allowing strong sunlight and dry northwesterly winds to dominate conditions. Wind speeds touched nearly 28 kilometres per hour during the day. Experts estimate that the mercury may rise by nearly one degree daily and could touch around 43 degrees Celsius by Monday. The high temperature is expected to continue for several days thereafter, increasing the possibility of severe heatwave-like conditions and hot winds across the city.
The department attributed the recent fluctuations in weather to multiple synoptic systems, including a trough in the westerlies, cyclonic circulations over Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and the possibility of a fresh western disturbance affecting the western Himalayan region from May 10. Despite these systems, dry and intense summer conditions are likely to dominate central India in the coming days.
