Aizawl: Christmas celebrations in Mizoram concluded with a grand finale of inevitable community feasts organised in all localities and villages by respective local church denominations across the state, while prayer and worship services continued.
People thronged the church halls where community feasts were prepared to mark the closing of Christmas celebrations, enjoying hearty meals with friends and acquaintances.
Though the community feasts signify the conclusion of the celebrations, people in Aizawl continue to stroll around the city, enjoying street decorations, while many families visit amusement parks taking advantage of the holidays.
The Christmas festivities passed off peacefully without any law and order issues. Police and local civil society members maintained strict security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents. Aizawl district SP Zosangliana told
TOI that the Christmas celebrations had been largely peaceful and joyful, sans firecrackers since the Christmas eve, as the state govt banned firecrackers to prevent sound and air pollution.
