A little background? Although Monica has Cuban roots, she was born and raised in Miami. She served as an NFL cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins from 2013 to 2017. She appeared on the cover of the team’s Cheerleaders Calendar for three consecutive years. During this time, she met the Miami Dolphins legend, Jason.She graduated from Florida International University with a degree in Communications. After graduation, she launched Monuit Sleepwear, a women’s clothing line, serving as owner, chief executive officer, and lead designer.
The NFL WAG later combined her love for fashion and passion for helping others to launch the Jason Taylor Foundation’s fundraising effort, Monica’s Runway. At the foundation, 31-year-old Monica helps a deserving child find new school clothes, visits students and teachers at the Jason Taylor Reading Room, and serves as a volunteer judge at the annual Louder Than a Bomb Florida spoken-word poetry festival.In 2024, the first Monica’s Runway event raised nearly $45,000 for the Jason Taylor Foundation Reading Room. “My heart is full,” Monica wrote in a Dec. 2024 Instagram post. “Thank you to all of our supporters, friends, and family who came out and made this day SO special. She listed a securities account with $2 million, Seaside Bank CDs worth $600,000, $1.5 million in real estate holdings in Weston, $1.5 million worth in cars and boats, and a $1.3 million retirement account. In August 2017, Tim Elfrink of Miami New Times reported that in 2000, Jason married Katina. The marriage had ups and downs. In 2002, he had to testify at a criminal court for his adoptive father, who got into a tussle over a gun with Jason after the two argued about the marriage, which his father didn't approve of to the point he had forbidden the rest of their family from attending the wedding. The dad was cleared of aggravated assault after a three-day trial and accused Jason of lying about the fight, telling the court: "He needs to repent."In January 2006, Katina filed for divorce after five years of marriage. At the 2006 training camp press conference, Jason assured the reporters that the divorce would not affect locker room interaction since Katina was Zach Thomas' sister. "As fast as the question about the locker room, I think it's ridiculous that anyone would even think that," Jason said.
