COIMBATORE: The Selvapuram police in the city seized Rs 60 lakh of unaccounted money from a two-wheeler rider on Friday night. The rider, identified as Ganesh Chindey, 24, from Maharashtra, works at his relative's jewellery store in Kerala’s Palakkad. The police were conducting a routine vehicle check near the Selva Chinthamani Tank in Selvapuram when they noticed a scooter approaching them. It suddenly took a u-turn. Finding this suspicious, the police chased the scooter and intercepted it.The police found Rs 60 lakh in cash under the scooter seat. During interrogations, it was revealed that Chindey came to the city on Friday with 428 grams of gold, which he sold at a shop in Big Bazaar. He was returning to Palakkad with the cash when the police intercepted him. When questioned about the source of the money, he could not produce proper documents.The police handed over the man, the cash and the scooter to income tax officials.
