It was truly a Merry Christmas in Karoline Leavitt's house as the 28-year-old announced to the world that she and her husband are expecting their second child. The White House press secretary has been married to her husband for almost a year now and the duo is a part of the age gap couples club in the Trump administration. Here's all you need to know about one of MAGA's most loved couples.
Karoline Leavitt announces second pregnancy
On Friday, Leavitt took to Instagram to announce that she and her husband are expecting their second child, a baby girl due in May next year. "My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,” wrote Leavitt in an Instagram post where she can be seen cradling her baby bump in front of the Christmas tree. “My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”
She also thanked White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and President Donald Trump for their support and for "fostering a pro-family environment in the White House."
Karoline Leavitt's husband
The 28-year-old is married to Nicholas Riccio, a 60-year-old real estate developer from New Hampshire. According to PEOPLE, he is one of four children and attended Plymouth State University. He attended a real estate course post-college and eventually pursued a career in the field, becoming a scion with his company Riccio Enterprises.
How did they meet?
The couple met during Leavitt's 2022 congressional campaign. “A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,” she recalled. “I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends," she shared at The Megyn Kelly Show.
While they got engaged in December 2023, the couple tied the knot in January 2025, just days before Trump's inauguration at Wentworth By the Sea Country Club in Rye, New Hampshire.
What is their age gap?
While Leavitt is 28, her husband is 60, making the age gap between the couple about thirty-two years. The two met when she was only 25.
The age gap between Leavitt and her husband has been the talk of the MAGA town quite a few times over the years. When Kelly asked the press secretary about the age gap, she admitted that while it is "atypical," her husband has been more supportive of her career following the success of his own. “He's built a very successful business himself so now he's fully supportive of me building my success in my career," she said.
In November 2025, she appeared on Pod Force One with Miranda Devine and shared how telling her parents about the age gap between her and Riccio was a "challenging conversation." "But then, of course, once they got to know him and saw who he is as a man, and his character and how much he adores me, I think it became quite easy for them," she said.
Karoline Leavitt's children
Leavitt and her husband's first child, Niko was born on July 10, 2024, before the couple got hitched. Now, they announced on December 26, 2025, that they are expecting a second child due in May 2026.
Along with being the youngest person in history to become the press secretary, Karoline Leavitt will also be the first pregnant press secretary. Considering the bold personality she is, the MAGA lady is having the time of her life, personally and professionally.
