Murder of marble worker in Balasore: Attack by miscreants leaves one dead, another injured

In Balasore district, a 26-year-old marble worker, Bapun Khilar, was murdered, and another, Amulya Mohanty, was critically injured in an attack by a group of assailants near Jarak Pada on NH-16. The attackers, riding two motorcycles, ambushed the victims before fleeing the scene.

Balasore: A 26-year-old marble worker was brutally murdered and another was critically injured in an attack by a group of five to six miscreants near Jarak Pada stretch of NH-16 in Balasore district on Sunday night.The deceased was identified as Bapun Khilar of Bartana village.The assailants on two motorcycles ambushed Bapun and Amulya Mohanty, 27, before fleeing. Locals took the injured men to FM Medical College and Hospital, where Bapun was declared brought dead, while Amulya remains in critical condition.Police registered a murder case after a complaint lodged by Bapun’s family. His body was sent for post-mortem to the district headquarters hospital on Monday.Shyamaghana Behera, IIC of Industrial police station, said, “Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. While the exact motive is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggests the attack may have stemmed from an altercation that escalated into violence.”
