Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Mizoram and Manipur on September 13, marking his first trip to Manipur since ethnic violence broke out between the Kuki and Meitei communities in May 2023. The northeastern state has been under President’s Rule since February 2025 after the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Reports suggest the Prime Minister’s visit will focus on reviewing the security situation and relief efforts. Thousands of families remain displaced due to the violence, with many struggling to rebuild homes and livelihoods amid persistent uncertainty. The proposed visit comes at a critical time as Manipur awaits stability.
