India and Israel have formalized a bilateral investment treaty to strengthen private investment flows and economic cooperation. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich hailed the agreement as a step that ensures security and confidence for businesses on both sides. He noted the deepening economic and strategic ties, highlighting shared democratic values and common challenges such as Islamic terrorism. Smotrich confirmed that both governments are committed to creating an ecosystem that protects long-term investments. He also revealed ongoing talks with Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to finalize a Free Trade Agreement, expressing optimism about concluding it in the coming months. With trade volumes already doubling in recent years, Smotrich said there’s clear potential to triple or quadruple bilateral trade.
