Antonio Felix Da Costa endured a disappointing debut weekend with Jaguar TCS Racing at the Sao Paulo E-Prix. Cupra Kiro rookie Josep ‘Pepe’ Marti went flying over da Costa’s car before crashing heavily onto the track, bringing chaos to the race. The incident spoiled what could have been a dream Jaguar debut for da Costa, as it ended his hopes of securing a podium finish despite starting sixth on the grid. He eventually crossed the line in 11th place in the Round 1 race in Sao Paulo.
Following the crash, Da Costa shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, reflecting on the incident and his optimism going forward. The post read: “Wrong place at the wrong time again. It was going to be a dream debut with the Jaguar, P1 in the group and the fight for the race victory when this happened (swipe). The important thing is, no one got hurt. Happy with the work we’ve done in these 2 months of adaptation with the team, it’s always going to get better from now on.”
Antonio Felix da Costa finished fifth in the Formula E World Championship in Season 11, collecting four podium finishes and a total of 111 points in the Drivers’ Standings. He made the move to Jaguar for Season 12 and, alongside his Formula E commitments, is also set to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
