Morigaon assembly election results 2026: Rama Kanta Dewri of BJP wins

Morigaon is one of the 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam. It is a general category seat located in the Morigaon district and, following the 2023 delimitation, it remains part of the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency.In the 2026 Assembly elections, incumbent Rama Kanta Dewri of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won with a margin of 65,489 against Bani Kanta Das of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP). Polling for this seat was held on April 9, 2026.In the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,84,785 registered voters, with 1,56,582 valid votes cast. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Rama Kanta Dewri won the seat with 81,657 votes.Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Bani Kanta Das finished second with 45,125 votes, losing by a margin of 36,532 votes.In the 2016 Assembly elections, Morigaon had 1,66,503 electors, with 1,41,292 valid votes recorded. BJP’s Rama Kanta Dewri won with 80,669 votes, defeating Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Jonjonali Baruah, who secured 51,046 votes. The victory margin was 29,623 votes.
