N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday disbursed Rs 306.61 crore towards compensation and rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package to
Polavaram project oustees at a meeting held at his camp office.
The chief minister also handed over house keys to beneficiaries of R&R colonies. Officials informed that 62.05 acres for house sites and 520.02 acres under land-for-land provisions were identified. This marks the fourth phase of compensation distribution since the NDA govt took office. Officials said that 29,936 displaced persons have been paid about Rs 2,250 crore so far under the current govt.
Interacting with the beneficiaries, the chief minister said the govt was committed to completing the Polavaram project and ensuring that displaced families do not face difficulties. He said farmers who had given land for the project should not incur losses.
Naidu said the govt created the Polavaram district to address issues of displaced families and would work to improve livelihoods through technology integration. He said the Polavaram project would be completed on schedule and that no oustee would face injustice.
Referring to past events, Naidu said he visited flood-affected areas in 2022 and alleged that adequate support was not provided at that time. He reiterated that the project was put back on track and said it would be completed before the 2027 Pushkarams.
