Vadodara: The Royal Satyamev Jayate Group faction of the Baroda Cricket Association has accused the ruling panel of contempt of court for proceeding with the Baroda Premier League in June, alleging that the management is flouting Gujarat high court directions.
The group objected to the Baroda Premier League (BPL), scheduled to be held in June at Kotambi International Cricket Stadium. Dr Darshan Banker, presidential candidate of the Royal Satyamev Jayate Group, said the BCA management, currently run by the Revival Group, was in contempt of court.
“The Gujarat high court has directed that the BCA shall not incur major expenses but the association management has announced that it is organizing the BPL. Dozens of contracts have been signed for the league and this is contempt of court,” Banker said. He added that he was not against the tournament, as it was for the development of the sport.
“What is the hurry to organize the BPL in June when another window is available in Sep? By that time the newly elected BCA body will be probably in place. A lot of BPL matches were affected by rain in June last year,” Banker said. He added that the group was planning to file a contempt of court petition against the BCA management.
Royal Satyamev Jayate Group’s candidate Anant Indulkar said the BCA management did not consult him despite him being a member of the caretaker body. The group also objected to the appointment of the BPL governing council, the continuation of BCA CEO Snehal Parikh and the unauthorized disbursement of performance bonuses to BCA staff members.
