Ranchi Security Tightens: Drone Ban Imposed Ahead of President Murmu's Visit

Ranchi: The district administration imposed a ban on flying of drones and hot air balloons on the stretch between Birsa Munda airport in Hinoo to Lok Bhawan on the eve of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit. Murmu is due to arrive in Ranchi on Sunday evening on a three-visit to Jharkhand. She will be staying in Lok Bhavan.In an order on Saturday, the administration imposed a no-fly zone on a 200-metre radius of Murmu’s approach route to Lok Bhawan from 6 am on Sunday to 10 pm on December 30. The administration would also put certain restrictions on the high-rise building located on the president’s route.

Ranchi deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri instructed the officials to complete preparations related to security, protocol, traffic control, route management and communication during the visit.IG South Chottanagpur Manoj Kaushik said, “Police headquarter have provided adequate officers and police personnel to ensure foolproof security for the President. The routes to be used during the visit have been barricaded. The areas through which the President would pass would be sanitized.” The traffic police on Saturday said movement of vehicles were being regulated in the city from Saturday itself. In a notification, the traffic police said entry of all goods-laden vehicles will be banned from entering the state capital from Sunday afternoon.
“Vehicles moving towards Kathitand and Ratu would go towards their destination via Kanke. The entry and movement of small and large goods carrying vehicles, auto-rickshaws, toto and passenger vehicles would be forbidden from 2 pm to 10:30 pm,” it said.Traffic restriction on goods carriers, buses and passengers will be restricted in the city between 7 am to 11 am and from 4 pm to 20:30 pm on Monday. The movement of small and large goods carrying vehicles, auto-rickshaws, toto and passenger vehicles would be forbidden on the President’s route from Birsa Munda Airport to the Lok Bhavan.“On Dec 30, the entry and movement of all goods carrying vehicles, buses and passenger vehicles would be barred in the city from 8 am to 4 pm. The traffic movement could be stopped and diverted for short periods in other routes as well ,” it added.
