Ranchi Road Projects: Namkum ROB, Naya Sarai ROB, and More to Open Soon
Ranchi: Commuters taking the Ranchi-Purulia stretch can look forward to a smoother ride as the radial four-lane road linking the Namkum Railway Over Bridge (ROB) and the Ring Road via Tatisilwai will be opened to the public shortly.
Sunil Kumar, principal secretary of the road construction department, has instructed officials to fast-track the remaining work to ensure a timely inauguration. “While the majority of the construction is finished, certain bottlenecks persist near the Namkum Bazaar area. The contractors have been handed a three-month deadline to wrap up all pending tasks and make the stretch fully functional,” Kumar said.
In another major boost to city infrastructure, the long-pending Naya Sarai ROB project is slated for completion by the end of June. The project, which extends from the New Legislative Assembly complex over the Lohardaga railway line to Naya Sarai, had been stalled for months due to slow progress. Kumar said that the work has finally reached its concluding stages and directives have been issued to expedite the completion process.
In a departmental meeting, the principal secretary ordered an immediate acceleration of the tendering process for construction of the road connecting Chapu Toli to Kathal Mor in Ranchi along with prioritising the repair work on Bariatu Road and completion of unfinished work at Durga Soren Chowk.
Maintaining that the state’s road network remains in robust, motorable condition, Kumar has issued a stern warning regarding the damage caused by utility works. He directed that any stretches dug up for pipeline or cable-laying must be restored before the monsoon sets in. A high-level meeting with all stakeholder agencies is on the cards to ensure ongoing projects maintain their momentum.
The department has had to navigate significant headwinds recently, including a scarcity of sand and soil, alongside the soaring cost of bitumen. To tackle these logistical hurdles, Kumar said that an inter-departmental meeting will be held to streamline the supply of essential construction materials.
Kumar directed the department officials that practical challenges ranging from land acquisition to forest clearances must be settled promptly through close coordination with deputy commissioners and relevant authorities.
