Koderma Lightning Strike Kills Three Family Members in Under-Construction House

Koderma: Three members of a family, including two women, were killed in a lightning strike at their under-construction house at Nandudih village under Tehro panchayat in the district on Friday night.The deceased were identified as Mundrika Devi, 45, Saraswati Devi, 37, and Saraswati’s son, Ankit Kumar, 15, Satganwa circle officer (CO) Keshav Prasad Chaudhary said.According to Chaudhary, the trio were sitting in a room on the first floor when lightning hit an iron rod fixed near a window.“The strike triggered an electric current that passed through the room, killing them,” he said. Other members of the family were unhurt as they were on the ground floor at the time.The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, the CO said, adding that compensation under govt provision will be provided to the family once the required formalities are completed.
