Kaimur: 6 awarded life-term in subedar’s murder case
Sasaram: A local court in Kaimur on Thursday sentenced six people, including a father-son duo, to life imprisonment in the murder of Assam Rifles Subedar Major Shashibhushan Tiwari, a resident of Chand village. The court also imposed a fine of Rs1 lakh on each convict, with an additional six months’ imprisonment in case of default.
The judgment was delivered by additional district judge-II Ajit Kumar Mishra. Those convicted are Shravan Gond and Rakesh Gond, sons of Deenanath Gond of Medh village under Chainpur police station; Subhash Singh, son of Bachau Singh; Arjun Kumar, son of Nachku Gond; Anil Gond of Babhaniyaw village under Chand police station; and Rajesh Kumar alias Rajesh Ram of Tenaura village. The case was lodged at Chand police station by the victim’s wife, Seema Tiwari.
According to the FIR, Tiwari, who was posted with the Assam Rifles in Manipur, had returned to his native place on leave on May 8, 2022. On June 16, 2022, he went to his residence in Ramnagar, Varanasi, to meet his children. Later that night, the accused allegedly attacked him with sharp-edged iron weapons, including axes and spades, causing fatal head injuries. The complainant’s statement was recorded the following morning.
Police said the murder was triggered by a dispute over construction work. Tiwari had engaged the accused for building work, and an argument broke out when a pillar was allegedly cast incorrectly. During the altercation, Tiwari reportedly slapped one of the accused, Shravan Gond. The prosecution said the accused later killed him in retaliation.
