Case registered against eight autorickshaw drivers at Nashik Road
Nashik: The Nashik Road police have registered a case against eight autorickshaw drivers for unlawful assembly, assault, and criminal intimidation following an alleged attack on a city bus driver at the Nashik Road bus stand on Friday morning. The case was filed based on a complaint by the bus driver, who alleged that he was dragged out of his vehicle, assaulted, and threatened after asking an autorickshaw driver to clear the way for the bus around 9am.According to the complaint, the bus had just left the Nashik Road bus stand and was on it way to Bardan Phata when an autorickshaw was found parked in front, blocking its movement. When the bus driver asked the autorickshaw driver to move, the latter allegedly got angry, pulled him out of the driver's cabin, and began an altercation. The police said the situation escalated when seven to eight other autorickshaw drivers gathered at the spot and allegedly began abusing and heckling the bus driver. The complainant stated that he was pushed to the ground and kicked and punched, while the autodriver driver involved in the initial argument also threatened him with dire consequences.Following the incident, bus drivers at the Nashik Road bus stand staged a brief token protest.
Passengers present at the stand reported heavy congestion during morning hours, with frequent clashes between bus and autorickshaw drivers despite designated parking areas for rickshaws. The police said they are investigating the case and will examine CCTV footage from the bus stand to identify those involved and take further action.
