Mandya police solve missing child cases
Mandya: Mandya district police have achieved a major breakthrough in investigating the cases of missing children in the district, by tracing several long-pending cases, including one that had been unsolved since 2012. This has brought relief to multiple families and highlighted district police’s intensified efforts to rescue missing and kidnapped children.
Under the leadership of SP VJ Shobharani, district police launched a focused drive to reopen unresolved cases. Monthly review meetings are being conducted with the DLSA, the district child protection officer and NGO representatives, to review investigation progress and coordinate rescue operations.
Out of 21 missing child cases currently under investigation, police has successfully solved six long-pending cases within the last three months. In total, eight children were rescued and reunited with their families.
One of the most significant breakthroughs came in a 2012 case registered at Mandya West police station, where a boy who went missing from a boys’ home, was finally traced in Mysuru, 13 years later. The case was solved through the persistent efforts of ASI Madesh and his team, earning appreciation from the seniors.
Police also traced a girl, who has been missing from Maddur since 2020, back in Dharwad. In another case, a boy who disappeared from a residential school in Keragodu was found working at a hotel in Bengaluru. Investigators from KR Sagar police station also solved another missing boy case after discovering he was lodged as an undertrial prisoner in Parappana Agrahara central jail.
In an interstate rescue operation, police traced a missing woman from Srirangapatna and her three daughters in Bihar’s Motihari district using mobile CDR analysis. Advanced digital tools, including tracking and mobile location, also helped investigators trace another missing girl near Lakkondanahalli in Bengaluru.
SP Shobharani stated that the remaining cases are also expected to be solved soon through sustained investigation efforts.
