2 killed in accident on B’luru-Mysuru highway
Mandya: In a tragic road accident on the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway, a father and his teenage son lost their lives, while a girl sustained serious injuries after their car overturned near Panakanahalli bridge in Mandya on Friday late evening.The deceased are Kiran, 40, and his son Kishore, 15, residents of Kachigere village in Mandya taluk. Kiran's daughter Keerthana, 14, suffered severe injuries in the mishap and has been admitted to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) for treatment.Police said the family was returning home after attending a wedding in Pandavapura when the accident occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle while passing over the bridge near Panakanahalli, causing the car to overturn violently.Due to the force of the impact, the car reportedly jumped across the road divider and collided with a KSRTC bus travelling from the opposite direction. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported among the passengers on the bus. Locals and passers-by rushed to the spot and alerted police and emergency services. The injured girl was immediately shifted to MIMS, while the bodies of Kiran and Kishore were sent to the hospital mortuary for postmortem.Traffic on the busy highway was disrupted for some time as police cleared the damaged vehicles from the road. Mandya Central police registered a case and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
