Pilibhit: Acting on a tip-off, a team from Jahanabad police station in Pilibhit district seized 1.2 lakh Alprazolam tablets, a narcotic drug, from two cars after two Kheri-based men allegedly sold the consignment to a Pilibhit resident. Police filed an FIR against four accused in the case.The raid was conducted around 12.15am on Saturday in Akbarganj village near Geeta petrol pump while the cartons were being shifted from one car to another.ASP Natasha Goel said police arrested three persons from the spot and recovered the narcotic drug stock from their possession. The accused were identified as Lakhvinder Singh (26) and Omkar Mishra (30), both residents of the Palia area in Kheri district, and Mohammad Furqan of Kargaina village under the Amaria police station limits in Pilibhit district. Police said the Kheri-based accused sold the Alprazolam stock to Furqan for Rs 50,000.During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that they had procured the narcotic stock from Yogesh Maurya of the Shankarpur area under Bhira police station in Kheri district, she added.Police said the accused failed to produce any valid licence or purchase documents for the stock. They allegedly confessed to being involved in the illegal trade of narcotic drugs for huge profits.
Jahanabad SHO Pradeep Kumar Vishnoi said police also recovered the sale proceeds of the seized stock and three mobile phones from the accused. Both cars used in the transaction were impounded, and all four accused were booked under sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act.
