Woman abducted, tied to tree, 'assaulted' after rejecting marriage proposal in UP
LUCKNOW: A woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Beniganj Kotwali area has alleged that she was abducted, tied to a tree and assaulted by a man after she rejected his marriage proposal, police said on Sunday.According to circle oficer Ajit Chauhan, the incident took place on May 11. Police said a case was registered based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother, and the woman was immediately sent for medical examination.The officer said the victim later informed police about additional injuries that were not mentioned in the initial medical examination, following which further investigation was initiated.“Legal actions are ongoing, and efforts to arrest the accused are continuous,” Chauhan said.
The victim alleged that she was returning home from a wedding around 11pm when a man identified as Atul intercepted her.“He grabbed me and abducted me. He tied me to a tree and assaulted me,” the woman alleged.According to the victim, the accused had asked her to marry him, but she refused the proposal.Police said further investigation into the matter is underway.
