Kiddnapped at knifepoint, 11-year-old gang-raped in Ayodhya
AYODHYA: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped during a village function Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, police said on Sunday.Police have detained two men in their mid-20s in connection with the incident that took place on Thursday.According to a complaint lodged by the survivor’s father, the girl had gone to a water counter outside the function venue around 8 pm when two men on a scooter allegedly abducted her at knifepoint. The accused allegedly took her to a deserted location outside the village where they raped her, the police said on Saturday.After the assault, the accused allegedly abandoned the girl near a canal.The girl returned home around 9.30 pm and informed her family about the incident on Friday morning, following which a formal police complaint was registered. Ayodhya circle officer Ashutosh Tiwari said, "Based on the written complaint, a case has been registered. Both the accused have been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway."
