Barwani: Police in Rajpur town of Barwani district on Saturday registered a case against several persons for allegedly assaulting a laboratory owner whose complaint had led Lokayukta police to trap three doctors of a government community health centre in a bribery case.
Rajpur police station in-charge Madhaw Singh Thakur said that the case was registered on the complaint of
Adnan Ali against one Mangilal and around a dozen other unknown persons. He said efforts were underway to identify the remaining accused with the help of CCTV footage.
According to Thakur, Adnan Ali and the three accused doctors were present at the Rajpur rest house during Lokayukta operation when a group of people carrying complaints against Adnan Ali also reached the spot.
Sensing the possibility of unrest, police escorted Adnan Ali and his brother to their residence. When they got down near their house, a mob allegedly attacked and assaulted them. Police personnel intervened and rescued the brothers from the crowd, said Thakur.
Following the assault, some members of the mob allegedly set fire to Adnan Ali’s car parked on the rest house premises.
The station in-charge said police security has been deployed outside Adnan Ali’s residence to prevent any further untoward incident.
