IUML takes action against leader over defeat in Koothuparamba

Kannur: IUML has removed the party's Koothuparamba mandalam general secretary Shahul Hameed from the post following the defeat of party candidate Jayanthi Rajan in Koothuparamba in the assembly polls. The disciplinary action was taken based on allegations that Hameed worked towards the victory of LDF candidate. UDF workers had taken out a protest march against Hameed following the electoral setback. The workers, including IUML activists, also demanded to the leadership to take action against him. Meanwhile, Hameed said that the disciplinary action was taken without hearing his explanation. UDF's Rajan lost the seat to P K Praveen of RJD by 1,286 votes.
