UP Kirana girls win chess championship
Kanpur: UP Kirana Seva Samiti Balika Vidyalaya earned the highest 18 points and won the KSS inter-school two-day girls chess championship, Zone B, which concluded here at Harmilap Mission School on Saturday. Sri Ram Public School, Kidwai Nagar, stood in second place with 13 points, and Dr Virendra Swarup Education Center got third place with 13 points. After the final round, chief guest Ved Prakash Bhatia, president of the host school, Amarjeet Bhatia, manager, and Minu Gosain, director, presented trophies to the first three place-holder schools. Dilip Kumar Srivastava, secretary, District Chess Association, announced the names of board performers- Simran Ja (Florets International School), Riteema (Army Public School), Ananya Dubey (Puranchandra Vidya Niketan), Anshika Shukla (Archies Hr Sec School) and Nivriti Mehrotra (Doon Int School), who were felicitated by the principal.
