Celebratory firing leaves one dead

Jhansi: A 45-year-old man died after he was accidentally shot during a celebratory firing in a marriage ceremony in Dimroni village under the Baragaon police station on Friday evening.The incident took place during the post-wedding rituals when the groom’s father, Gopal Yadav, while checking his gun, accidentally shot his cousin brother, Mahesh Yadav from a close range.According to eyewitnesses, the gun malfunctioned, prompting the groom’s father to inspect it. It then fired unexpectedly, striking his cousin.The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.The police arrived at the crime scene and collected evidence, but the accused had fled by then.SO Baragaon police station, Baliraj Sahi, said that a case has been lodged against the accused under Section 105 of BNS and Section 25/27/9 of Arms Act. He said that the police are trying to catch the accused.
