Khargone: Two persons were arrested and eight country-made pistols were seized from them under Bhikangaon police station limits of Khargone district.
“Acting on a tip-off received on Monday, a police team set up a blockade near a petrol pump in Saikhedi village. The team stopped two men travelling on a motorcycle and carrying a bag. While checking the bag, the police found eight country-made pistols in it. A motorcycle used for transporting the weapons and two mobile phones were also seized,” Khargone SP Ravindra Verma said on Tuesday evening.
The arrested persons were identified as Rahul Sen (32), a resident of Dhulkot village in Bhagwanpura area, who police described as a middleman, and Lucky Gupta (21), a resident of Jalandhar,
Punjab, who had allegedly come to Bhikangaon to purchase the firearms.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the weapons were bought from a Sikligar in Signur village, SP said.
Two days ago, Bhikangaon police had arrested Aminul Islam, 27, a native of Murshidabad district in West Bengal who was residing in Nipania area in Indore, with five country-made pistols.
