Paddy Pimblett is already deep into preparation for one of the biggest fights of his UFC career, and this time he wants fans to know one thing clearly, his weight is under control. The Liverpool fighter recently gave an update ahead of his return fight against Benoît Saint Denis at UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas, and he did not hold back while responding to people questioning his fitness and diet habits.
The upcoming lightweight clash is huge for both fighters. The winner is expected to move very close to a UFC lightweight title shot, making this a major comeback moment for Pimblett after suffering the first UFC loss of his career against Justin Gaethje. Pimblett admitted after that defeat that he made mistakes inside the cage by trying to trade punches with Gaethje instead of sticking to a smarter game plan. Now, with another top-ranked opponent waiting, he looks fully focused on getting back into the title picture.
Paddy Pimblett says weight cut is “sound” before Benoit Saint Denis fight at UFC 329
One topic that has followed Pimblett throughout his UFC run is his weight gain between fights. Fans and even other fighters have often talked about how quickly he puts on weight after stepping out of the octagon. Because of that, many people were again questioning whether he would struggle to make the lightweight limit of 156 pounds for UFC 329.
But according to Pimblett, things are going smoothly this time around.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Pimblett pushed back strongly against critics who continue to comment on his body and eating habits.
While cleaning up the language from his original comments, Pimblett said he feels healthy and on schedule ahead of fight week.
“I know people always think I get too heavy, but the weight is actually fine,” Pimblett said.
“You can all think what you want. There are so many dieticians and fight dieticians posting pictures of me online. They talk like they know everything.”
He then added another sharp message aimed at those critics.
“You should focus on your own fighters first. Some of them cannot even make weight properly,” Pimblett said.
The timing of the update matters because UFC 329 could completely change the direction of Pimblett’s career. A win over Saint Denis would likely put him right back into serious lightweight title discussions. On the other hand, another loss could slow down the momentum he built during his rise inside the UFC.
The comments were first shared through Pimblett’s official YouTube channel while discussing his current training camp and weight cut progress before UFC 329 in Las Vegas.
