Indore: Three members of a family and a domestic help sustained severe burns allegedly after an LPG cylinder leakage triggered a fire at Laduna village in Sitamau police station area of Mandsaur district on Friday.
The accident occurred inside the residence of 45-year-old Jagdish Rathore when a gas cylinder was replaced. Sources said that when the gas exhausted, Jagdish connected a new cylinder. As he broke the seal and removed the cap, gas leaked rapidly under high pressure. The leaked LPG immediately caught fire allegedly after the gas stove was lit, engulfing the entire kitchen.
Jagdish, his wife Radhabai, their 15-year-old daughter Preeti and 32-year-old domestic help Parmeshwar Bhil were severely injured in the fire. Neighbors rushed to the spot upon hearing the screams. The villagers procured fire extinguishers from a nearby petrol pump and managed to douse the flames, preventing a potential cylinder explosion.
The victims were initially taken to the Sitamau community health centre from where they were referred to the Mandsaur District Hospital. Later, they were taken to a private hospital.
