Women dominate DOST Phase-I Allotments, secure over 36,000 seats
Hyderabad: Women candidates dominated the Phase-I seat allotments of Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST)-2026, securing 36,302 admissions compared to 19,845 male candidates, according to the Telangana Council of Higher Education Chairman and DOST convener, professor V Balakista Reddy.
Announcing the Phase-I allotment details on Wednesday, Reddy said a total of 56,147 students were allotted seats out of 61,543 candidates who exercised web options. However, 5,396 candidates could not secure allotments due to limited choice filling during the counselling process.
This year, 84,610 candidates registered for DOST admissions. Of these, 78,556 completed registration through Aadhaar-linked OTP authentication, 4,685 through the DOST App, and 1,369 through MeeSeva biometric authentication.
Among the total allotments, 36,634 students secured seats in their first preference option, while 19,513 candidates received allotments in their second or subsequent choices.
Commerce courses emerged as the most sought-after stream with 23,214 allotments, followed by Physical Sciences with 14,394 seats, Life Sciences with 9,815, and Arts courses with 8,415 allotments. Course-wise, B.Com recorded the highest number of admissions at 19,015 seats, while B.Sc Physical Sciences and B.Sc Life Sciences accounted for 14,394 and 9,815 allotments respectively.
Reddy said 777 colleges offering 409 courses are participating in DOST-2026 admissions, with a total intake capacity of 3,60,709 seats. During Phase-I counselling, students exercised 3,35,312 web options. However, 79 colleges recorded zero allotments.
Candidates who secured seats have been instructed to complete online self-reporting between May 15 and May 23 by paying Rs 500 or Rs 1,000, depending on their category. Students allotted seats in Government Degree Colleges and University Colleges who are eligible for ePASS fee reimbursement are exempted from payment during self-reporting.
The DOST convenor warned that candidates failing to complete self-reporting within the stipulated period would lose both their allotted seat and DOST registration.
Meanwhile, Phase-II registrations and web option entry will commence on May 15 and continue till May 26, while the second phase seat allotments will be announced on May 30.
