Dibrugarh airport’s bomb threat drill assesses readiness
Dibrugarh: An annual bomb threat mock exercise was conducted at Dibrugarh airport on Monday to test emergency preparedness protocols and enhance coordination among security agencies responsible for passenger safety. The simulation exercise was executed under the direction of CISF deputy commandant Rohit Sahare and supervised by Dibrugarh airport director Bangajit Saha. The drill brought together various agencies in a coordinated response scenario, evaluating the airport’s readiness to handle potential security threats, while ensuring minimal disruption to passenger safety. The mock exercise simulated a bomb threat scenario, requiring immediate activation of standard operating procedures that would be deployed during an emergency. Security personnel, airport staff, and representatives from various agencies participated in the drill, demonstrating evacuation protocols, threat assessment procedures, and testing communication systems. The exercise also evaluated the airport’s ability to coordinate with local law enforcement, fire services, medical emergency teams, and other stakeholders.“This annual exercise is crucial for assessing our security preparedness and identifying any gaps in our emergency response mechanisms. The drill allows us to test real-time coordination among all agencies and ensure that every team member understands their role during a crisis situation. The mock drills are essential for airports to maintain certification standards. These exercises also help identify potential vulnerabilities in existing security infrastructure and operational procedures,” airport director Saha said.
