Hazaribag: Deputy commissioner (DC) Shashi Prakash Singh on Tuesday directed officials to complete rainwater harvesting systems and construction of toilets and pending repairs of the existing ones in anganwadi centres across the district within 15 days.
Chairing a review meeting at the collectorate on Tuesday, the DC asked all child development project officers (CDPOs), women supervisors and officials of the public health engineering department (PHED) to work in close coordination to ensure availability of safe drinking water and functional sanitation facilities in anganwadi centres.
Officials were informed that rainwater harvesting systems are to be installed in 400 anganwadi centres, while toilet construction work is to be completed in 180 centres within the stipulated time frame. Singh warned that the deadline must be strictly adhered to.
The DC also made it clear that partially constructed anganwadi buildings will not be taken over under any circumstances. He further instructed officials to provide tap water connections in anganwadi centres operating from govt buildings so that children and anganwadi workers have access to clean drinking water. Emphasising accountability, Singh directed concerned officials to regularly monitor the progress of works and said strict action would be taken in case of any negligence. District social welfare officer, concerned BDOs and COs, all CDPOs, women supervisors, PHED officials and other employees were present at the meeting.
