Aizawl: Pradhan Mantri Bal Shakti Puraskar, the highest civilian award for children, was presented to 9-year-old prodigal singer Esther Lalduhomi Hnamte from south Mizoram’s Lunglei town.
The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday.
Hnamte is the first child from Mizoram to receive the prestigious award.
Governor Gen. Vijay Kumar Singh congratulated Hnamte for receiving the award. Taking to social media, Gen. Singh said, “Heartiest congratulations to Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte, the young singing prodigy from Mizoram, on receiving the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar.”
“Her soulful renditions of “Maa Tujhe Salaam”, “Vande Mataram”, and several other patriotic songs have touched millions of hearts across the nation, inspiring deep feelings of patriotism and beautifully celebrating India’s unity in diversity...,” the governor added.
State women & child development minister Lalrinpuii congratulated Hnamte, adding that she had millions of fans at the age of 4 for her renditions of ‘Vande Mataram’.
